Real Axe is proud to be part of the newly reopened Chinatown Heritage Centre now refreshed with new exhibits and interactive elements that aim to deepen visitor engagement.
Stepping Into the Past with AI
As part of the transformation, Real Axe created an interactive experience using AI and hand gesture recognition technology. Visitors can use hand gestures 1, 2, 3, or 4 to select one of Singapore's Heritage Icons such as an Opera Singer, Street Hawker, Trishaw Rider or Samsui Woman and see themselves transformed into them.
After making a selection, the kiosk captures a photo and performs a real-time transformation. The visitor is turned into their chosen Heritage Icon with a themed scene.
Making History Personal
After the activity, visitors can download their transformed photo to their phones and receive a souvenir by completing a short survey. This simple gesture extends the experience and creates a lasting memento of their journey through the Centre.

Supporting a Vibrant Tourism Future
At the reopening, Mr. Alvin Tan, Minister of State for Trade and Industry, highlighted the need for fresh ideas to keep Singapore’s tourism sector vibrant. He said:
“In order to make sure that our tourism sector continues to be very vibrant, we need to make sure all of our different parts of the tourism sector start to grow, and we must inject new and fresh ideas, like (with) Chinatown Heritage Centre.”
We as well share this vision and were proud to support the Chinatown Heritage Centre by creating an AI-powered interactive experience that brings new and fresh ideas to heritage engagement. It offers visitors a more personal and modern way to connect with culture.
